Jan Collins
Candidate for Maine State Senate District 17
“Passionate advocate for the people of District 17 & Maine.”

About Jan

Jan is a resident of Wilton and a lifelong resident of Maine.

Jan is a blueberry farmer, retired high school science teacher (chemistry, physics, Earth science, Biology and whatever else I was asked to do). She is a certified respiratory therapist, a Maine Master Naturalist, and a grandmother. She has served on the boards of land trusts and comprehensive plan committees in two different towns, on conservation commissions, and with various service organizations. She currently volunteers with Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife doing bat surveys.

Jan was born in and has lived here in Maine her entire life, graduating from Mt. Blue HS, she holds several degrees, has published a book on nature walks in southern Maine and thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail twice. She is passionate about rural Maine. Jan honors the community spirit that she has seen in every town she has visited in this district. Jan believes everyone has value, that we are stronger as a community, a state, and a nation when we honor the contribution of each person and we support each other.

Jan knows it is time for change in Augusta and she has the skills, knowledge and personal attributes to get the job done in a competent and respectful manner.

Phil Poirer says:

Deb Stahler shares:

Nadine Marchand supports Jan because:

Legislative Priorities

Property tax relief through state revenue sharing

Increase in the state share of education funding

Make healthcare more affordable for everyone

Protect Maine’s environment

Fund essential infrastructure

Restore transparency and civility to government

With politicians in Augusta focused on keeping their jobs, we need a State Senator like Jan Collins who will focus on ours. Jan is a farmer, small-business owner, and teacher, not a career politician. She will give us a voice at the table and work to build an economy that rewards hardworking families.

I will fight to expand career and technical training so students learn the skills to get good-paying jobs that are available in Maine.

Equal Pay for Equal Work

Ensure that women and men are paid the same for doing the same work.

Protect Our Way of Life

Invest in farming, forestry, and tourism to ensure that our kids have the opportunity to get good jobs right here in the communities where they were born.
